“It’s The Little Things That Make a Big Difference”

I am still working on all the new Dixie Belle Paint colors, they are so amazing I just can’t get enough of them….. they have two amazing new Blue colors “Dusty Blue”and “Antebellum Blue” If you have been waiting for that perfect light blue and a darker blue these are your colors….

I just decided to redo a dresser that was previously used over and over for other tutorials and demonstrations for the new metallic paints. No sanding or stripping necessary. Since the dresser wasn’t sealed I just painted right over it…. thats what I love about painting, its so easy to change your mind along with colors.

I usually stick to 3 or 4 colors on a piece. I love color, depth, dimension, shadows ect…. Its so hard for me to paint a piece in just one color. With this piece I was pretty happy with the base color as Antebellum and the shading with light blending in the Dusty Blue….

I applied my Big Mamma’s Butta all over the whole piece for a sealer… I am such a fan of wax. I have waxed furniture from over 6 years ago in my own house and they have held up great. I also love the look of wax, it has a nice matte finish.

Big Momma’s Butta is Dixie Belle’s newest wax. The one I love is Orange Grove, it smells amazing. They also have two other scents. It works perfectly to deodorize smelly musty drawers. Its all natural and echo friendly. So anywho…. since it was already clear waxed I decided to use my White Wax “Best Dang Wax” in the crevices and cracks of the top and bottom of this pieces. I used a shop rag and rubbed it in all the cracks all over the top and bottom of the piece, and also the inner edge of the drawers, then I took a clean rag and wiped off the excess, leaving the white wax in the cracks.

I can really see the dimensions now, so glad I did it. But I still felt it needed more….. Just a little something to draw your eye to the pieces…. I decided on my Redesign with Prima Transfers. I order them last year and they come with so many I had tons to pick from. These transfers are so easy to use, they are rub-on transfers, and you do just exactly that “rub then on” and Voila… thats just what it needed…. it draws the eye to the piece now….. SEE….. “Its the little things that make a big difference”.

Hi Holly! I do love the new blues. I have the Antebelum, and i cant wait to use it. Did you create an hombre affect or is that just a shadow? I have the non scented Butta. I wish i had bought the scented one now. I love your style and I appreciate you sharing your techniques with me.
